You love that morning java, but what it does to your teeth — not so much. The dark colored pigment found in your favorite morning drink tends to sink into the tiny pits and ridges that make up tooth enamel. Coffee is not the only culprit, of course. Any dark color liquid like soda or tea will stain, as well, but the National Coffee Association reports that Americans have a love affair with their morning brew: The association’s National Coffee Drinking Trends survey found that 63 percent of the adults in the U.S. drink it daily. And it’s not doing your enamel many favors.
